Every three years the International Union for Circumpolar Health awards the medal to distinguished individuals for their contribution to medicine, health and welfare in the Arctic.
The Jack Hildes Medal was awarded to Birgitta last night during a ceremony at the 17th International Congress on Circumpolar Health this week in Copenhagen, Denmark.
